The Miami Dolphins are known for their aggressive style of football, and with this season of games on the horizon, they’ve gone through some changes with their players.
The team will have new faces on defense, with free agent defensive lineman Cameron Wake and the first-round draft pick Derek Barnett likely to make their debut in Miami, as well as second-round defensive end Myles Jack.
That could be a very interesting group, with both Wake and Barnett having their chances to make the 53-man roster, depending on what happens with the draft.
It’s unclear whether Jack will make the team or not, but the Dolphins are a long ways from signing him, and that could affect how Jack is viewed by Miami fans.
We don’t have any information about Jack’s contract status, but he’s likely to be the team’s starting left tackle.
We also don’t know whether Wake is going to be with the team, but we do know he’s one of the team will be on the roster, with rookie Jordan Phillips likely to get the starting right tackle spot.
With Wake likely on the team for a long time, the Dolphins might not need to sign any other tackles this offseason, as Jack might be the only left tackle on the final 53-player roster.
The only question is who’s going to play left tackle this year, and whether that’s quarterback Ryan Tannehill or backup Joe Webb.
If Webb is the backup, it will be very difficult for Tannehills team to beat the Dolphins in the regular season.
If Tanneheys team is the team to come out of the playoffs, the defense could be an important factor in the AFC championship game.
With the Dolphins having one of their top offensive lines, the quarterback is going be a big issue, as both Josh McCown and Chad Henne have struggled in 2017.
We’re going to have to wait and see how well Tannehalys team will perform this year.
The defense will likely be a strength for the Dolphins, with linebacker Kiko Alonso returning to the team after missing most of last season due to injury, and safety Reshad Jones returning from injury after missing the previous two seasons.
The Dolphins defense was also a key piece of their defense in 2016, and the defense is likely to continue to be one of Miami’s biggest assets heading into this season.
The best bet for Miami to win the AFC South is quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, and he’ll be the one to beat if he starts to improve.
We may not have a full offseason ahead of us, but 2017 will be a busy one for the NFL.
