Sales of new Subaru sports cars are up by 4% in Australia over the past 12 months.
The company says sales of the Sport Compact were up by 15% and Sport Utility by 12% over the same period last year.
Subaru’s chief executive said the results showed the “acceleration of demand” for new cars in Australia.
“We’ve had tremendous interest in Subaru from our customers and we’re pleased to report that the enthusiasm for new Subaru models has been incredibly high,” Chief Executive Joe Hinrichs said in a statement.
“As consumers continue to look to drive their cars to the next level and become more efficient, we’re seeing increased demand for new models and are continuing to invest in our new technology to enhance performance.”
The company has also introduced a new ‘Acceleration’ function on the new Subaru Impreza.
This lets owners see what the car will be like on the road, before buying.
Subaro says the “Accelerator” feature will increase fuel economy by up to 10%, and offer a new range of fuel efficiency options including a 10% discount on Premium Plus, up from 15%.
“This means that you will be able to enjoy a lower price of the Premium Plus Fuel Economy Plus option, which will reduce the price of your next Premium Plus Gasoline Plus Fuel saving,” the statement said.
“It also means that we’re able to offer an even greater discount on the Subaru Premium Fuel Economy Select Premium Plus option.”
Subaru has also announced a new model of its flagship Imprezas, called the Subaru Imprado.
The company is also adding the Sport Coupe, which it says will become the world’s best-selling SUV in 2020.
“Our new Imprados are a perfect complement to our existing Imprezza family, which includes the Subaru BRZ and BRZ Premium, as well as our new Impreja and Imprada models,” Mr Hinrichy said.
